Circles South West 2019 AGM

Over 40 staff, volunteers and supporters joined us at our Annual General Meeting on a windy day in September.

Our AGM was held on 12th September in Taunton to hear about our achievement of the previous year and enjoy presentations from some of our esteemed guests. The day began with a welcome by Tim Price, Chair of Trustees followed by Jo Burden, CEO, who took us through highlights and achievements from the previous year. You can see these here.

We were delighted to welcome Riana Taylor, CEO of Circles UK who reflected on the benefits and learning from making the Sky News Special Report ‘Inside the Circle. In addition, Professor Kieran McCartan was interviewed by our Operations Manager Pauline Rousseau about his recent work on ‘Service User Voice’.

One of the highlights of the day was a presentation by one of our core members who spoke about the impact working with Circles has had on him, how he came to engage with CSW and how the Circle has benefitted him. It was a heartfelt talk and gave those present an insightful view into how the work we do impacts the lives of those involved. You can read a piece by the same core member here where he talks candidly about himself and his circle here.

Finally, Head of Research & Evaluation, Oli Preston, of Research in Practice took us over the independent evaluation they have been working on with us at Circles South West.

Following tea the formal business of the AGM was undertaken.

The day was received incredibly well by all who attended and it was wonderful to gather everyone together to celebrate the past year and talk about the future.
