Delivering circles of support and accountability to protect communities from sexual harm and sexual reoffending

Jackie Citron

Jackie is the Service Manager for Young People & Families having driven the development of our Young People’s Service since joining Circles South West in 2016.

To date, over 40 Circles of Support & Accountability have been established across the South West for young people aged 10-20 with HSB. This has proven hugely successful both in terms of reducing risk and in developing Core Members’ strengths including social skills, confidence, independence skills and emotional management.

In 2017, Jackie helped produce our YPS film and from 2017 to 2019 she sat on the Bristol Safeguarding Children’s Board as the VCSE Advocate for Voscur.

Jackie has developed and delivered training to professionals and volunteers along with educational workshops relating to sex and the law for school students. She is responsible for overseeing (and delivering) the Lucy Faithfull ‘Inform Young People’ programme for young people who have engaged in online or TA (tech assisted) HSB, and is accredited to undertake AIM3 assessments of young people aged 12+ who have engaged in HSB.

Jackie has recently co-facilitated the Breaking the Cycle groupwork programme for non-offending partners in Wiltshire with Sara Radford, and has helped develop our EDI strategy which she is committed to driving forward.
Prior to joining CSW, Jackie was the Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Coordinator for North Somerset Council; a strategic role involving chairing the CSE Subgroup and developing policy and practice in relation to CSE.

From 2004 to 2016, Jackie was a Youth Justice Officer at South Gloucestershire YOT where she developed a specialism working with adolescents with HSB; completing AIM2 assessments and interventions, preparing Court reports and managing high risk cases.

In 2013 she was seconded into the Bristol Be Safe Service to implement and deliver the lottery funded Children’s Programme for children with problematic and/ or harmful sexual behaviour. She also held cases whilst at the Be Safe Service, completing assessments and delivering therapeutic interventions for young people with HSB.

Jackie attained a Diploma in Probation Studies in 2004. In 2014 she attained a Distinction in the Professional Certificate ‘Advanced Practitioner Topics with Sex offenders’ from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN).
