Circles South West welcomes new Circles Coordinator for Dorset
Circles South West is delighted to welcome some new faces to our staff team.
Neil Claughton has joined us as the Circles Coordinator for Dorset and will manage our existing Circles in the County as well as leading on our newest initiative, Prison/Through The Gate Circles for men serving sentences at HMP The Verne who intend to resettle in Dorset.
During a varied 30 year career in Dorset police as a Detective Inspector, Neil managed the MOSOVO (sex offender management) unit responsible for the management of over 800 offenders within the County. He was also the MAPPA and MARAC Chair. He set up and ran the prolific offender unit (PPO) managing the highest risk offenders who committed crime to fund their addiction to Class A drugs and worked as part of a multi-agency team of police, probation, prison, housing and drug rehabilitation staff. He worked closely within Dorset prisons to ensure effective through the gate services to those offenders being released to the Dorset area and the success of the unit saw significant reductions in reoffending. He also worked within the Child Protection Unit.
Upon retirement Neil was a team manager and trainer for the National Charity Victim Support working closely with volunteers across the County. He successfully supported his team to offer both practical and emotional support to victims of crime.
Neil has a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with perpetrators of sexual crime with the aim of preventing sexual re-offending. He is excited to bring forward his experience to his new role as the Dorset Circles Coordinator.
We warmly welcome Neil and look forward to working with him as we embark on a new year.
