Bournemouth Crown Court Open Day

On Saturday the 1st July 2023, Circles South West were invited to be part of the Bournemouth Crown Court Open Day.

The event, supported by Dorset Criminal Justice Board, was arranged as an open day at the court so members of the public could find out more about how local justice works and about the various career opportunities that there are in the criminal justice sector. This was a wonderful opportunity to meet with lots of local people from Dorset, promote all the work we are doing in Dorset, encourage new volunteers to apply to join us, and to make some great connections with others who work in the sector.

The event was well supported by statutory agencies across the criminal justice system such as Police, Probation, Youth Justice, Crown Prosecution Service and HM Courts. A large number of third sector organisations also supported this event including victim support, substance misuse services mentoring services.

Dorset Young People’s Coordinator, Tim Johnson, and three volunteers from Dorset gave up valuable time on a Saturday to attend this event and talk to the wider public about the role they undertake to keep the county of Dorset safeĀ  There was also an opportunity to share this with the Dorset Police & Crime Commissioner and the High Sheriff of Dorset.
